Dense fog was observed over water catchment areas on the western slopes of the central hills today (10), creating calm but challenging conditions for transport in several high-altitude areas.
According to area reports, the Hatton–Nuwara Eliya and Hatton–Colombo main roads, as well as several interior routes, experienced reduced visibility due to the fog. While traffic continued to move, drivers faced difficulties navigating the winding mountain roads under limited visibility.
Hatton Police traffic officials have advised motorists to travel at reduced speeds and remain attentive while driving through affected areas. Drivers are also encouraged to keep their headlights on at all times to enhance visibility and ensure safer travel.
Authorities note that such weather conditions are common in the hill country and urge road users to remain patient and cautious until visibility improves.
